Measuring Tips For Custom Safety Covers

1. Establish two points, "A" & "B", ("A" must be to the left of "B") on the deck about 2/3rd's the length of the pool. 20-25 feet is typical (the longer the line, the better the accuracy). These points should be equal distance from the pool and at least 3 feet away from the water.

Mark your "A-B" points with stakes in the ground or chalk marks on the deck. Show "A-B" line on a diagram along with distance from "A-B". The "A-B" line or extensions of it can never cross the waterline.

2. Using chalk, mark the number points in a clockwise direction along the inside edge of the pool at approximately 2-3' intervals. Be careful and number all corners, changes of directions and obstacles. You most provide "A-B" points for all: corner points, ladders, handrails, grabrails, slide legs, dive stands, rocks, spillways, spa walls, & fillspouts. General Rule: The tighter the radii, provide more points, every 1-2'; straight lines or broad radii less points 3-4'. The more points the better.

3. Measurements are now taken from "A" to point #1 then point #2, and all around the pool, fill in the chart. Then list the measure from "B" to the same point #1, then #2 and all around the pool as for "A". List the measurements in column format as provided. Measure length and width of waterline using two established numbered points on pool.

4. Use a sketch to indicate inside pool dimensions. Show all: Obstructions on deck (slides, grabrails, etc.), Planters (and how far back they are from pool edge), rocks, spas, waterfalls, etc. Call Best Buy toll free for assistance.

5. For obstructions that are flush with the pool wall, provide "A-B" points and tell us where the raised or rock area begins and ends.

6. For obstructions that are set off the edge of the pool, provide "A-B" points and fill in the appropriate chart.

7. Please provide a diagram when & where there is less than 3' of deck around your pool.

8. Remember, always remove obstructions when possible!
